A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Steven Haas, has been designing homes for over 25 years. After spending several years early in his career at I M Pei and Partners, he formed his own firm and concentrated on commercial, recreational and institutional work. He transitioned into residential design through the process of real estate development and soon realized that residential work allowed for a level of architectural refinement and attention to detail which was and is his passion.

In parallel to his single family residential work, he has developed and designed a community of homes in Columbia County, New York. Through site clustering and the creation of a hierarchy of public and private courtyards, the environment and the privacy of homeowners have been carefully respected.

His practice has evolved into the design of many large and complex, site specific homes that hopefully evoke the passion and spirit of the profession of architecture. Much of this work has been done in close collaboration with the interior design firm LST Design.

Lisa Sewell Tillinghast, originally trained in architecture, has  had a wide-ranging professional career in interior design, beginning at the New York offices of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Architects, and followed by positions as Director of Design in a number of leading firms including Associated Space Design in Atlanta, Georgia, and Marcel Breuer & Associates in New York City.  In these situations she had the opportunity to gain experience in designing, a variety of sophisticated large scale corporate, industrial, educational and medical facilities.

Eventually she developed her own practice and focused on residential work.  She realized the potential such projects offered her to develop creative solutions that address clients' individual requirements and aspirations, the modeling of space, the attention to functional requirements and detail, the delivery of a style suiting the taste and comfort of the client, resulting in a sense of "pride of place" for them and for her.

Lisa Tillinghast has enjoyed design collaborations with a number of architects and designers, most notably Steven Haas, Architect and the interior designer, Robert Nassar.  (www.robertnassar.com).  A recent project illustrating such collaboration is featured in the July 2007 issue of Architectural Digest.
